Welcome!
As some of you know my Father, Bill Hicke courageously battled prostate cancer for 7 long years until we finally lost him on July 18th 2005. The ordeal was something I would never wish on anyone. Those of you who have been through it or who are going through it, know what I mean. In a strange twist of fate one year later to the day on July 18th 2006, we also lost my Aunt, Irene Hicke to Cancer as well. Unfortunately a similar sad tale can be told by millions of people across the world who have lost, or will lose their loved ones to some form of Cancer. I figure we can either sit back and hope it doesn’t happen again, or hope it doesn't happen to us, or we can actually do something about it. My personal commitment and goal is to raise as much money as possible so that some day in the near future, they will find a cure, and others will not have to go through what I have.
On July 9th, I am going to run in The Alberta Cancer Foundations “Underwear Affair”. A 10K race wearing the underwear of your choice, or what ever you feel comfortable in (so unlike me I know), to help raise money for Cancer below the waist. I encourage you all to join me in the race to help raise money for this horrible disease, or if you can’t join me please donate what ever you can to my run. I really do appreciate any contribution you feel like making. Don’t be shy - it’s about giving these devastating cancers some exposure and shedding some light on their cures. Please help me in my effort to raise money for care and research for cancers "down there!"
If you want to know what I’m wearing, you’ll have to show up on race day. : )
Thank you,
Danny
